Effective Solutions For Preventing Pregnancy Stretch Marks

Stretch Marks — By admin on October 6, 2008 at 1:04 pm

Getting the right solution for preventing pregnancy stretch marks is a prime concern for most women who are going through pregnancy or have recently delivered. A pregnant woman’s body undergoes a lot of hormonal changes to allow for the baby’s growth. As the baby grows in size within the womb, the abdominal area stretches more and more.

Pregnancy Stretch Marks Cream Intensely Moisturizes

The maximum amount of stretching takes place in the third trimester of pregnancy. Due to the large increase in body weight and stretching of the muscles and skin, stretch marks form in the abdominal area and the thighs. In some women these marks can develop on the calves of the legs as well.

Stretch marks and pregnancy go hand in hand. Stretch marks are bound to happen due to the rapid increase in the body weight which takes place as the fetus grows.  Truly speaking there is no solution for preventing pregnancy stretch marks. However one can definitely prevent the formation of too many stretch marks. One of the best solutions for preventing pregnancy stretch marks is to apply a pregnancy stretch marks cream in the abdominal area throughout your pregnancy. This will keep the area moisturized and smooth and prevent the stretch marks from becoming dark. Use a popular brand which is easily available and known to be effective. You can check with your friends and relatives to know which cream they have used. Also remember to consult your gynecologist as s/he will be aware of the most effective stretch marks solution.

Light Abdominal Exercises Are Useful

The cream should be especially used regularly several times a day once you step into your second trimester that is your 4th month onwards. Most pregnant women complain of severe itchiness around the abdomen and thighs from 6th or 7th month onwards. It is especially important to use a good pregnancy stretch marks cream during this time or whenever you feel the itchiness as this will prevent sores that are formed due to excessive itching.

Very gently rub the cream on the abdomen so that it gets well absorbed. Though the itching generally ends after the delivery of the baby the stretch marks will be prevalent for a long time especially if the marks are dark. Remember not to stop treating your stretch marks after pregnancy also. Continue using the stretch marks cream even after your baby is born even though you will get busy with the baby. This is because the abdominal skin and muscles sag and need to be moisturized and gently massaged to bring back their firmness.  Take out time to apply the cream at least twice a day. Keeping the cream close at hand near your bed is a good idea as you can quickly use it at bedtime. Another solution for preventing pregnancy stretch marks is to do some light exercises which will help to make your abdominal muscles firm once your baby is born. You can consult your doctor, read a good post pregnancy care book or browse a website for the right kind of exercise. Many women’s magazines also give tips on effective post pregnancy exercises.

Overall, one need not worry as there are effective solutions for preventing pregnancy stretch marks.

There was only one study done, back in 1991, that shows that any ingredients can reduce your chance of getting stretchmarks. That combination of ingredients are Gotu Kola, Vitamin E, and Collagen Hydrolysates.

My OB told me about the Elasticity Oil from Belli, as it is the only brand that uses these effective ingredients-AND the only brand that doesn’t contain ingredients linked to birth defects as they teratology screen everything.

I don’t know why anyone would use anything else.

I was obsessed with the Made from Earth Aloe & JOJOBA CREME I was pregnant! I started using it around 3 months and kept with it everyday until my son was born (and a bit beyond). Its 100% chemical free with no fragrance, is made from wonderful ingredients, feels amazing on your skin, and best of all…no stretch marks!

I thought I would be prone to them, since I have others on my hips and thighs from teenage years, but not a one appeared during pregnancy. It is a bit pricey, but a little goes a long way. I applied very liberally, 1-2 times a day and used almost 4 bottles during my whole pregancy.

Very well worth it if you are looking to avoid stretch marks, and if you are a healthy mom who refuses to use chemicals in your skincare products…

I’m generally not a lotion person – it just seems like too much work.

In my second pregnancy I’ve had some really itchy skin on my belly and breasts and my mother bought me the Made from Earth Aloe & Jojoba Creme Therapy (as posted by MT above) for me to try. It has eliminated my itchy skin (though it returns the next day if I don’t use the lotion).

My stretch marks seem to be lighter, but I suppose that’s probably due to the fact that they’re more moisturized than usual.

The scent is pleasant and the texture is wonderful. It’s not greasy or overwhelming in any way, but it is nice and thick. I’m someone who struggles with the decision to buy a $4 bottle of Curel, but I’ll absolutely pay $25 for a tube of the Made from Earth Aloe Therapy.

I was very concerned about getting stretch marks when I was pregnant with my first child. They run in my family and my mother got TONS when she was pregnant with me. (I was 9lb 10 oz) I took 200IU Vitamin E and 100mg Vitamin C in addition to my prenatal vitamins. My son was 10 lbs and I walked away with out a single stretch mark. I think going after the stretch marks fron the inside can help prevent them more effectively than any expensive cream on the market. I am expecting again early next year, and I am going with the same routine, since it worked for me the first time.
