Readers Share Their Experience In How To Get Rid Of Stretch Marks
Stretch Marks — By admin on October 6, 2008 at 11:27 amDon’t we all detest stretch marks? They cause us worry and often inhibit us from wearing what we like, incase they show. Want to know the best way to get rid of those unwanted stretch marks that your body gets post surgery or due to weight gain? We pulled in a few of our readers to give you invaluable advice on how to get rid of stretch marks.
Mary, a working mother of two, tells us, “I was horrified when I first experienced stretch marks on my body, after my kids were born. It was like something beyond my control, and I was unable to stop it. After a while, I was determined to rid myself of them.”
She says that she first heard of Stretch mark laser treatment therapy from her colleague in office, who had tried it. “My colleague told me that it is a painless procedure, without any blood loss. The cost component was the only worry, as I had two school-going kids who needed to be taken care of. I went to the doctor who examined my marks, and advised to me sign up for regular stretch mark removal surgery sessions. I knew it would be expensive, but I was assured that it would be safe and painless. I did have to shell out quite a bit, but I knew they would go away forever.”
Mary went in for this treatment, and seems quite satisfied with the outcome. “Now I can wear whatever I want, and do not have to worry about them coming back.”
Plastic surgery for stretch marks might have benefited Mary, but our next reader, Rebecca Lowe, a tenth grade teacher, thinks Laser surgery is the worst thing ever. “I do not think, taking the help of surgical procedures is safe. I would not risk my body to these, as the stakes are too high. One never knows what harm the artificial replenishment of tissue will cause. Moreover, so many sittings would work out too heavy on my pocket. I would rather go in for home remedies.”
Her advice on how to get rid of stretch marks would be, to maintain a healthy diet, go for regular exercise, and drink a lot of water, as that keeps the skin looking healthy and young.
June, a fitness trainer in a local gym, swears by home remedies for the treatment of stretch marks. She feels regular workouts at the gym, and applications of creams containing cocoa butter, lanolin and wheat germ oil help in healing the skin completely. “Cocoa butter for stretch marks works really well with me. I apply these creams regularly, after I had a kid, and because of its rich moisturizing quality, the damaged collagen is replenished again. It is best to start treating stretch marks earlier on, when they are reddish or brown. Once they become colorless, it is difficult to treat them.” This is true as the skin learns to respond easily to proper and regular care. Apart from them being safe, these treatments are also less expensive.
Melissa Hart, a graphic designer, says that she is biased about laser surgery as she wants to get rid of stretch marks soon, and no results are showing as of now. She has been applying oils for stretch marks containing Vitamin E and jojoba, and bought the entire range of tummy honey creams with the special Endo booster to get her hips and breasts stretch marks free. “I have been trying these for a long time now, but because I am a little on the heavier side, they are taking time and not healing completely. I am interested in trying out laser surgery, but am scared of the expenditure as well as the side effects.”
Well, these are some of the advices given by our readers on how to get rid of stretch marks. Take your pick from these opinions and see which one works out best for you.
